Remove Subscribed Calendar Events on iPhone

To remove subscribed calendar events on iPhone, first decide whether you want to hide the whole calendar, unsubscribe, or keep only some events. An external subscription is read-only. Filter My Calendar lets you create a separate calendar with the events you choose.

Choose what you want to remove

Hide everything

Open Calendar, tap Calendars, and deselect the subscription. You can show it again later.

Stop subscribing

In the Calendars list, tap the information button beside the subscription. Choose Unsubscribe and confirm.

Keep selected events

Import the calendar link into Filter My Calendar and choose what to keep in a separate calendar.

These steps apply to external subscriptions. Shared editable calendars and events you created have different controls. See Apple’s removal instructions for your iOS version.

Keep games and practices. Leave out other announcements.

A school or team calendar may include events for several groups. Choose the events that apply to you before adding the filtered calendar to your iPhone.

Before filtering, 13 events are shown.

Replace the full schedule with a filtered copy

Get the ICS or iCal subscription link from the school, team, or calendar publisher. A link to their website is not the same as a calendar link.

  1. 1

    Import the calendar link

Add the source URL in Filter My Calendar.

  2. 2

    Choose your events

Search the imported events and select the ones you need.

  3. 3

    Add to Apple Calendar

Review your calendar and choose whether to enable automatic updates. On iPhone, use Add to Apple Calendar to subscribe.

  4. 4

    Hide the original

Check your filtered copy first, then deselect the original in the Calendars list to avoid duplicate events.

Keep selected events up to date

Turn on automatic updates during calendar review, then subscribe to your filtered calendar. Live Sync checks enabled calendar links about every two hours. Changes to selected event times, locations, and other details appear when your calendar app refreshes the subscription. Cancelled or removed events leave the filtered calendar.

Your selection stays yours

Newly discovered events are available for review but are not added to your existing selection automatically. You can edit the filtered calendar to include them.

Subscribe to receive updates

A downloaded ICS file is a one-time copy. Automatic updates work with eligible public calendar links. Uploaded files, PDF and image imports, Google imports, and merged calendars do not support Live Sync.

Live Sync costs $24 per year, renewing until cancelled, for up to 3 enabled calendar links. See pricing and free allowances.

FAQ

Why can’t I delete an individual event from a subscribed calendar on iPhone?

An external calendar subscription is read-only. The publisher controls its events. To display only selected events, create a separate filtered calendar instead of editing the subscription.

Does hiding the calendar delete its events?

No. Hiding changes which calendars you see. You can select the calendar again to display its events.

Will filtering change the original school or team calendar?

No. Filter My Calendar imports the source and creates a separate calendar from your selection. Other subscribers continue to see the original schedule.

Will later changes from the source appear in my filtered calendar?

Yes, when automatic updates are enabled for an eligible calendar link. Live Sync checks the source about every two hours, updates selected events, and removes events cancelled or removed by the publisher. Newly discovered events are not added to your selection automatically.

Why do I see the selected events twice?

Both the original subscription and the filtered copy may be visible. Check that the filtered calendar contains the events you need, then hide the original calendar.

Keep the events you need on your iPhone.

Import your calendar link, choose events, and add the filtered copy to Apple Calendar. Your first 5 filtered calendars are free.
